Hobbit Jars

I love to work with the clay after the pot has been thrown.  These pieces are thrown as one piece, including the handle, then shaped after they have set up. The lid is cut out after the piece has become leather-hard. I was told that they look like they belong in the Shire, and so I call them hobbit jars!
We form clay into a pot,
but it is the emptiness inside
that makes the vessel useful.
